Polyphenolic’s grape seeds praised in sustainability article

Polyphenolics’ eco-friendly use of grape seeds and pomace was recognized in a recent Nutritional Outlook article on sustainability. The article by Robby Gardner, “Waste Not, Want Not,” describes how Polyphenolics is responsibly using ingredient by-products to create beneficial dietary supplement ingredients.

Gardner explains that Polyphenolics, uses grape seeds and pomace that might otherwise go to waste. He states that, “Thanks to the leadership of responsible businesses, as well as research breakthroughs, we’re finding new human uses for these plant parts at an increasing rate.”

For Polyphenolics, the result is clean-label accountability. As a division of California Natural Color and E. & J. Gallo Winery, Polyphenolics has access to an abundant supply of fresh wine grapes, grown in California’s Central Valley, and retains complete control over the entire manufacturing process – from the initial wine grape selection to the final extraction of finished material. The company goes beyond federally mandated traceability requirements, documenting all aspects of growing, treating and handling of the varietal grapes.

Polyphenolics also conducts sophisticated testing to confirm the safety and quality of its multi-patented MegaNatural premium grape seed extracts. These standards are essential to assuring ingredient efficacy. The article notes that there is strong interest in grape seed extracts due to their bioactive compounds. “Independent researchers, as well as companies with vested interest in grape seed extracts, have published studies on human consumption of these extracts for uses such as helping to lower blood pressure,” the article states.

Polyphenolics invests in significant original research. Clinical studies have shown, for example, that its patented MegaNatural-BP grape seed extract helps maintain blood pressure within the normal range.

Other grape seed extracts may have variability of seed source and lack standardization, but this relationship enables Polyphenolics to deliver a verified, pure and consistent product.
