is the world leader in standards development, product certification, and
risk management for public health and safety. NSF serves manufacturers operating
in 80 countries, and the NSF mark is recognized for its value in international
trade around the world, and is respected by regulatory agencies at the local,
state and federal levels. NSF’s third-party testing provides a complete
evaluation of every aspect of a product’s development. For dietary
supplements such as MegaNatural, this evaluation includes:
Verifying manufacturing consistency and accuracy.
Verifying the
identity and quantity of the ingredients declared on the product
label.
Ensuring that the product does not contain undeclared
ingredients or unacceptable levels of contaminants, and
Ensuring that the manufacturer is conforming with currently
recommended industry good manufacturing practices.
About MegaNatural Grape Seed Extract Products
Many have heard reports claiming that red wine, Concord and Rubired
grape juice, and high quality grape seed extracts are good
for the heart. Phenols and tannins, which are found in red grapes,
give these products their reported benefits. The key active phenols
are called proanthocyanidins, a
class of flavonoid phenols that are antioxidants more potent than vitamin
C and E.
A high quality grape seed extract, such as MegaNatural® Gold
grape seed extract, is a pure source of these compounds containing over
90 percent procyanidins. Two hundred mg. of grape seed extract will deliver
the same level of procyanidins as a four-ounce glass of red wine without
the alcohol present in wine. Also, a six-ounce glass of red grape juice
will have about 200 mg of procyanidins but also 130 calories and 30 grams
of sugar.
Scientists continue to make new discoveries about the health
benefits of these compounds. For example, damage to blood fat (the “bad” LDL
cholesterol) due to oxidation may lead to cardiovascular disease,
including hardening of the arteries. A scientific study conducted
at the University of California, Davis, concluded that the phenols’ potent
antioxidant properties help protect against LDL oxidation, keeping
arterial linings healthy. Additional studies lend credence to phenols’ ability
to improve circulation, and decrease the fragility of veins and capillary
walls.
